EVF versus OVF

There are countless debates on the technological advantages of the electronic viewfinder over the optical, so I’m not here to extend such conversation. Who am I to talk about the intricacies of specs anyways?

But while I also find the EVF an inevitable evolution of camera tech, I think the OVF is still worthwhile in the current landscape of photography.

I’ve been switching back and forth from mirrorless cameras to DSLRs, and vice versa. All the times I’ve convinced myself that it was the speed of operation and reliability of a SLR that was forcing me to keep shooting one. But now I think I had it all wrong.

You see, it’s just a different experience shooting through an EVF in comparison to an OVF. At least for me.

いよいよ花火シーズンの到来

もうすぐ花火大会の季節がやってくる。誰と、どこに行ってみようかと、最近からワクワクしてしまう。

去年行ったところは残念ながら豪雨で中止になってしまったが、今年は晴れるといいなぁ。

Adobe. Please FIX Lightroom.

I have no clue how a product like Adobe Lightroom, that is so similar to the Camera Raw feature in Adobe Photoshop, can lag behind in performance so much.

User experience has been horrible for years now. I was convinced that my PC was too slow back a year ago. But now I have upgraded to 16GB of RAM, switched to a modern Quad Core CPU and bought a NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 graphics card, and Photoshop runs like a breeze on my new PC. On the other hand, however, Lightroom remains to suffer from lag even after maxing-out every possible optimization options.

Heck, even adjusting curves in Lightroom is a total nightmare.

Having tried Capture One Pro and SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro, these softwares have really made a positive impression on me, but I would need a total workflow overhaul to switch from Lightroom.

PLEASE. ADOBE. HAVE THIS GOD DAMN THING FIXED.
